With a full weekend of racing and the track in perfect condition, Thornhill took third in the early MXY2 class qualifying sessions as the young Suzuki rider took a further pair of podium finishes and a sixth and forth to secure the opening round overall win.
Racing in the same class as Thornhill on the Saturday, James Dunn took two race wins in the MXY2 class, before packing up and moving across to Foxhill circuit in Wiltshire to contest the British 125cc Two-Stroke Championship on Sunday.
With three 20 minute races, a crash in the first saw Dunn claw his way back up to seventh by the chequered flag. Fortunes looked set to change in race two as Dunn lead right up to the last lap, before being pushed back to second spot by Jamie Smith before riding to a well-earned final podium spot in the last race to take third overall on the day.
Also competing at Foxhill in the Elite Youth Championship on his small wheel RM85 was Danny Lanfear who took third overall on the day after solid top-five finishes all day.
Paul Butler, team manager commented, “I am so pleased with the team as a whole, they’ve all worked hard over the winter, rewarded by these great results.”
